A 4-year-old girl was Tuesday killed when the vehicle in which she was going to school along with other children met with an accident on Gondia-Tirora Road in the district's Gangazari area, police said.
The incident happened at around 9:30am and the vehicle, on its way to Chaitanya Education Society's School of Intelligence in Ekodi, overturned after hitting the tree, an official said.
"Neytatri Sachin Mendhe was in the front seat and suffered severe head injuries. She was rushed to Gondia Hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival. She was a resident of Mundipaar village," the official said.
Local residents pulled out the other children who were discharged after being administered first aid at a nearby hospital, he added.
"The vehicle did not have RTO permission to ferry schoolchildren. A case under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act has been registered against driver Rakesh Gyaniram Dakhne (19)," said Assistant Inspector Shyamrao Kale of Ganazari police station.
