A former Hooters girl turned glamour model has been slammed for causing 'untold danger to the community' after she was found guilty of drink driving in Sydney.

Kristin Funke, 21, lost her licence after scoring a blood alcohol reading of 0.084 during a random breath test in Blakehurst on November 17, The Daily Telegraph reported.

The court heard Funke told officers she'd had two glasses of red wine in the two hours prior to being stopped by highway patrol officers on the Princes Highway.

But Sutherland Court magistrate Glenn Walsh said the 21-year-old must have known she was affected by alcohol when she decided to get behind the wheel.

'I give little weight to the assurances of having had two drinks,' Mr Walsh said.

'This is a prevalent offence that causes untold danger to the community - to take the risk of driving is taking a risk with other people's lives.'

Police documents provided to the court also state that Funke smelled of alcohol and her eyes were 'slightly glazed' as she was being breathalysed.

In addition to losing her licencee for three months, the 21-year-old was ordered to pay a $750 fine and will be required to hold an 'interlock licence' for 12 months.

According to the Transport Roads and Maritime Services website, drivers who are found guilty of mid-range drink driving offences must have the device installed.

'This ensures offenders separate their drinking from driving and do not re-offend,' the website stated.

Funke, who is originally from Missouri in the United States, has been living in Australia with her partner for three years and is currently studying to be a registered nurse.

But things weren't always so rosy for Funke.

In 2012, she was featured in the Emmy-nominated documentary series Beyond Scared Straight, where troubled teens were forced to visit American prisons.

'I'm Kristin, I'm 15, and I smoke weed and sneak out,' Funke said in the documentary at the time.

She told the camera, in addition to smoking marijuana, she had previously taken her mother's car outside of curfew and driven it without a licence.

Despite her checkered past, the police prosecutor acknowledged they had been unable to access Funke's history prior to her arrival in Australia.

The 21-year-old's defence lawyer also told the court, while there had been some degree of planning, the offending was outside of Funke's usual character.

'She accepts her responsibility for her stupid mistake,' her solicitor said.
