Mitchell Marsh has twin shadows to contend with and they have a familiar ring.

Son of former Australian opener Geoff Marsh and brother to current batsman Shaun Marsh, legacy is Mitchell’s second skin. Even in the leadership stakes, there is a doppelganger as he is a co-vice-captain along with Josh Hazlewood!

Mitchell made light of the situation and looked ahead to the first Test against India here from Thursday. Speaking to the media on Tuesday, he stressed that Shaun is his ‘best mate’ and felt that the series against Virat Kohli’s men, would be a ‘great contest’.

Coming in after a meagre show against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates, Mitchell conceded: “There are a few questions marks, so I am just really pumped.”

The all-rounder emphasised that he is fit to bowl: “I love coming in the graveyard shift, after 70, 80 overs when the ball’s doing nothing and try to sneak in a wicket.”

Terming the Adelaide Oval pitch as a ‘good cricket wicket’, Mitchell said that Australia has its plans for Kohli and his fellow batsmen besides countering the spinning queries of R. Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav.
