Audiotape case: discharge petitions dismissed

The Fast Track Mahila Court here on Tuesday dismissed the discharge petitions filed by all three accused in the audiotape scandal case. The case has been adjourned till December 11 when the charges are likely to be framed.

The accused – suspended assistant professors Nirmala Devi and V. Murugan and former research scholar of Madurai Kamaraj University S. Karuppasamy – had filed separate petitions seeking their discharge from the case pertaining to attempt to traffic college girls.

When the case came up for hearing, Judge A. Leyahath Ali said there was prima facie materials against the accused in the case.
