Symbiosis girls team enters semi-finals

PUNE: Symbiosis girls brought their A game to the fore as the floored their opponents The Bishop’s Co-Ed School Undri to make the semi-finals of the girls basketball event at Sakal presents Mapro Schoolympics on Monday.

Being played at the Deccan Gymkhana courts, the Symbiosis team started in the ascendency, converting their opening five baskets. Led by Yukta Chordia (14 points), Shalini Shirole (11 points) and Siya Goyal (6 points), Symbiosis beat the Bishop’s Co-Ed school 37-9. They enter the next round full of confidence and are favourites to enter the summit clash.

They will be joined there by St Mary’s School Camp, SPM English School and Sardar Dastur Nosherwan Girl’s High School.

St Mary’s were given a scare by Abhinava Vidyalaya English Medium School, who fought till the end to make a match out of St Mary’s domination. St Mary’s eventually won 39-34 with telling contributions from Sanvi Gholap (19 points), Mahi Limkar (8 points) and Madhura Gore (4 points).

St.Mary’s School, Camp:39 (Srinivasan Ishani-22, Angal Shamali-12, Jain Aastha-04) beat Abhinava Vidyalaya English Medium:34 (Gholap Saanvi-19, Limkar Mahi-08, Gore Madhura-04);  
Sardar Dastur Nosherwan Girl’s High School:-29 (Kirad Saanika-13, Salve Tanvi-08, Sarje Bhumika-04) beat St. Joseph High School, Pashan: 17 (Deshmukh Sanika-07, Khilare Siya-06).
