It's the end of the year, which means that it's time to start researching for your awards ballots. The Golden Globes, the most exciting awards show of the season because it honors both TV and movie (not to mention, it gives their honorees booze during the ceremony), announces this year's nominees on Thursday.

This year in the TV categories, Ryan Murphy's The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story looks to dominate the limited series categories as it did at the Emmys, while The Crown, The Handmaid's Tale and more duke it out for a spot in the Best Drama category. The most interesting thing about the Golden Globes, which are handed out by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, is that they always tend to throw in exciting up-and-comers into the mix along with the expected nominees. Who will be surprise nominee -- and potentially winner -- this year?

You can find out when the nominations are announced live on Thursday morning. You can watch on the Golden Globes' official Facebook page. The livestream will begin at 8:05 a.m. ET/5:05 a.m. PT as the nominations are read live from Los Angeles.

Once you've calculated the odds for who will win in this year's categories, you can watch to see who gets the new revamped Golden Globe trophies on Sunday, Jan. 9 at 8/7c on NBC.
