Tirupur: A library was inaugurated at the north police station in the city on Monday.

Police commissioner S Manoharan, who inaugurated it, said, “About 200 people, including police personnel and petitioners, come to the station, which also hosts the Tirupur north all women police station, a day. Many of them have to wait for their turn to meet officers. They should make use of the time to read books.”

The library has as many as 296 books, most of them in Tamil. “It has book like ‘Inddhiya Mupperum Sattangal’ which could act as a guide to learn about the Indian penal code, criminal procedure code and the Indian evidence act. There are also several motivational books and short stories. We hope it will be of help to all visitors,” the officer added.

Y’s Men International, a non-governmental organisation, had chipped in for setting up the facility. It has also promised to establish libraries at seven more police stations.TNN
