‘CPI(M) helping BJP grow in Kerala through Sabarimala stir’

The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has accused the BJP and the CPI(M) of playing “adjustment politics” over the Sabarimala issue in a bid to decimate other political forces in the State.

Addressing a rally organised by the Muslim Youth League here on Sunday, party national general secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty, MP, said the CPI(M) was helping the BJP grow in Kerala against the backdrop of the agitation opposed to the entry of menstruating women to the hill shrine.

He said the BJP shifted its agitation on the Sabarimala issue to the Secretariat as part of the “adjustment”. Both those parties had joined hands to hide the lapses of the Left Democratic Front government. The effort was to ensure that only the CPI(M) and the BJP were left in Kerala’s political sphere in the future.

“The police have framed BJP leader K. Surendran in a number of cases and is now presented in different courts. This is an attempt by the CPI(M) to groom him as a great leader,” he alleged.

The IUML leader, however, pointed out that the CPI(M)’s calculations would be proved wrong in the Lok Sabha elections. “Don’t go over the moon for your recent victory in some panchayats and the Student Federation of India’s victory in some universities. The Congress and the secular forces are going to get the highest number of Lok Sabha seats from Kerala,” he added.

IUML national president K.M. Kader Mohideen alleged that though Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised “Acche Din”, what the people got was “Bure Din”. Though the BJP promised “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas”, what was happening was “Sabka Mouth” and “Sabka Naash”.

The BJP was trying to create a Hindutva society in India, he alleged.

IUML State president Panakkad Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal inaugurated the rally.
