Woman set on fire by in-laws over dowry demands

A woman in Odisha's district died after she was set ablaze allegedly by her in-laws over demands, police said Monday.

The woman in her early 30s died at and Hospital in Cuttack while undergoing treatment on Monday. She was identified as Bharati Swain, a resident of Balisuan village in district.

The woman in her dying statement said that "she was set ablaze by her mother-in-law and three They allegedly poured kerosene and tied her hands and legs before setting her on fire."

The woman was rescued and rushed to SCBMCH with 80 per cent burn injuries Sunday night. However, she succumbed to the burn injuries while undergoing treatment, police said.
