Violence breaks out in Bulandshahr over reports of cow slaughter, two people killed | Latest Developments

Additional Director General of Meerut zone, Prashant Kumar said that a mob pelted the police with stones and indulged in arson setting several vehicles and the Chingarwathi Police Chowki on fire.

Two people including a police inspector was killed in violence that broke out on Monday in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr district after reports of illegal cow slaughter. Additional Director General of Meerut zone, Prashant Kumar said that a mob pelted the police with stones and indulged in arson setting several vehicles and the Chingarwathi Police Chowki on fire.  Police Inspector Subhodh Kumar has died in the violence, he said. 

Meanwhile, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe the incident. Speaking to IndiaTV, Uttar Pradesh ADG (law and order) Anand Kumar said that those behind the incident will be identified and arrests will be made soon. He added that the situation in Bulandshahr was under control.

HERE ARE THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS ON BULANDSHAHR VIOLENCE

# Violent protests break out in Bulandshahr after clash between two groups and police. Members of several Hindu groups  with an alleged cow carcass gathered on the Bulandshahr-Syana road and pelted stones at the police personnel.

# The Hindu Yuva Vahini and Bajrang Dal activists also vandalized vehicles and attacked police officials. They torched several passing vehicles.

# Senior police officers rush to the crime scene to contain violence.

# In the violence, Inspector Subodh Singh of Syana police station and four constables were injured. The profusely bleeding inspector was rushed to the Aurangabad community health centre (CHC) where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

# Another person succumbs to injuries.

# Speaking to IndiaTV, Uttar Pradesh ADG (law and order) Anand Kumar said that those behind the incident will be identified and arrests will be made soon. He added that the situation in Bulandshahr was under control.

# Anand Kumar stated that a SIT panel has been constituted to probe the incident and they will submit the report within 48 hours.
