THANE: Residents from the lake city finally woke up to a pleasant morning as the mercury levels dropped on Monday. Several areas witnessed cloudy skies and the weather continued to remain cool even in the afternoon.
Till last week, the maximum temperature was hovering around 35 to 37 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature was also on the higher side, giving hardly any respite to residents.

However, since Monday there has been a drop in temperature. Weather experts claim that the mercury levels will drop by another two to three notches by Friday.

Experts believe that the cloudy weather is likely to continue till the end of the week due to the presence of a cyclonic circulation over coastal Karnataka.

An official from the Indian meteorological department said, “Currently, there is a cyclonic activity over coastal Karnataka. This may affect the temperatures in Thane and its suburbs. Such a weather condition is likely to persist till Friday. Since winter has set in properly in the North with Delhi and its adjoining areas even witnessing a fog, there will be a considerable drop in temperatures in the days to come. By Friday, the minimum temperature will be 19 degree Celsius.”

Adventure enthusiasts also seem to be enjoying the pleasant weather with some already chalking out their itineraries. Vishal Marathe, a resident of Ghodbundar Road, said, “Since the atmosphere has started getting chilly, my friends and I will be be planning a weekend getaway. On Monday, the weather was pleasant even in the afternoon. Seeing this change in climate, I felt like I should take advantage of the weather and plan a short trip right away.”
