A paedophile in his 50s has admitted to kidnapping and raping an eight-year-old girl.

The man pleaded guilty to the charges at Dubbo Local Court last Wednesday following his arrest in Wellington, New South Wales, nearly one year ago.

He appeared via video link from the correctional facility where he had been in custody, wearing prison clothes and a beanie, the Daily Liberal reported.

Guilty pleas were entered on the man's behalf.

The man pleaded guilty to string of offenses including taking or detaining a person with intent to commit a serious indictable offence and to sexual intercourse with a child aged under 10 years.

He also pleaded guilty to two counts of produce child abuse material.

The court then withdrew some of the charges that had been made against him, including two counts of procuring a child aged less than 14 years to produce child abuse material and a charge of aggravated sexual assault.

The man is yet to receive his sentence.
