KCR considered changing constituency, contesting from Nalgonda
Ch Sushil Rao | TNN | Updated: Dec 3, 2018, 21:57 ISTHYDERABAD: TRS president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday revealed that he considered changing his constituency and contesting from the Nalgonda assembly seat.
“I don’t know whether I have to tell you this or not but let me tell you anyway. There were discussions taking place about me shifting to Nalgonda but the people of Gajwel said they would not accept such a decision,” he said.
“However, since Kancharla Bhupal Reddy had joined the party, he was my natural choice to field from the constituency instead of me shifting here,” KCR said at a public meeting in Nalgonda.
The TRS president also recalled that it was Prof Jayashankar who suggested that he should contest from the Mahbubnagar Lok Sabha seat. “He told me that wherever I contest from the party would get strengthened there. I won from Mahbubnagar,” he said while highlighting the developments taken place in that area.
Winning the Nalgonda seat is a matter of prestige for the TRS as the sitting Congress legislator Komatreddy Venkat Reddy who has been fielded again is a bitter critic of KCR. Kancharla Bhupal Reddy of the TDP joined the TRS last year. He was also known to be a close aide of A Revanth Reddy, also of the TDP who joined the Congress and is now working president of the party.
At the Nalgonda meeting, KCR also promised that he would adopt Nalgonda and ensure its development. He also promised to build a large number of two bedroom houses for the poor. “In the last 20 years, there has been no development in Nalgonda. If you continue to vote for those you have been voting, it will continue to be in such a shape. I can promise you development just like in my constituency Gajwel, if you vote for the TRS candidate,” he said.
