Deputy general manager ‘didn’t pay’ Rs 41,000 for sweets, court orders FIR
TNN | Dec 3, 2018, 07:10 ISTNoida: An anti-corruption court in Meerut has ordered an FIR to be filed against a deputy general manager of Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) and his personal secretary for allegedly taking sweets worth Rs 41,000 from a shop for Diwali and leaving without making a payment.
The court order came on a complaint filed by Lokendra Singh Bhati, the owner of Badami Sweets in Arihant Greens. Bhati alleged that on November 2, PK Kaushik, deputy general manager (projects) of GNIDA, and his personal secretary Rakesh Sharma had visited the outlet at night. “We served them tea and snacks as they are known to us. They ordered sweets worth Rs 41,000 and stacked the packets in their car. When we asked for payment, they threatened to ruin our business and left the spot,” he said in the complaint.
Kaushik has refuted the allegations, saying the complaint had been lodged with an ulterior motive. “I have no relation with the complainant. We inspect projects and take necessary action against offenders. I don’t remember any such incident. It is possible that they had been questioned over some project. So, they filed an application against us in court,” the official said.
The court has, however, directed Bisrakh police to investigate the complaint after registering an FIR.
Bhati said that he knew Kaushik and his secretary because his son worked as a contractor with GNIDA. He claimed he filed the petition in court as his application was not registered at Bisrakh police station.
Sirajuddin Alvi, additional DGC at the Meerut court, said ADJ Manjeet Singh had directed local police to inform the court about details of their investigation.
