AHMEDABAD: A day after the embarrassing leak of Lok Rakshak Dal recruitment exam paper, four people, including two BJP workers, a police sub-inspector and a woman rector of a hostel, were arrested in the case on Monday. The arrests were made by Gandhinagar police in a joint operation with Gujarat ATS and Ahmedabad crime branch.

Those arrested include Rupal Sharma, a divorcee with two kids who is rector of Shri Ram Hostel in Gandhinagar and also a candidate for LRD (LRD) exam, PSI P V Patel and BJP workers Manhar Patel, elected member of Bayad municipality, and Mukesh Chaudhary, elected member of Vadgam taluka panchayat. Key accused Yashpalsinh Solanki, a sanitary worker with Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), is reported absconding.

The arrest of BJP workers further added to the embarrassment of the state government which was left red-faced following last-minute cancellation of the exam which left 8.75 lakh candidates, competing for 9,713 posts, in lurch. BJP party president Jitubhai Vaghani promptly suspended the two to avoid further flak.
