In a bizarre incident, Mumbai police arrested a groom from his wedding celebrations for stealing a mobile phone from a woman a day earlier.  Ajay Sunil Dhote was nabbed on Tuesday along with his friend and accomplice Altaf Mirza on Tuesday.

The duo was held after a woman filed a complaint at the Tilak Nagar police station, saying two men on a 220cc motorbike had snatched her cellphone and rode off while she was with her daughter in Amar Mahal junction in Chembur.

While the CCTV footage of the area did not give away much, as the accused had covered the bike’s number plate with tape, the police managed to identity of the thieves by making enquiries.

When the cops reached Dhote’s residence in Shivaji Nagar, they found themselves in the middle of a wedding party as Dhote had got married in Bandra court hours earlier, said a report in Hindustan Times.
