‘Spain tour helped us to understand Smart City’

Pimpri: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar and directors of the Pimpri Chinchwad Smart City Corporation have said that their recent Spain tour has helped them to understand the better implementation of various smart city projects in developed nations.

Addressing a press conference here, Hardikar said that their participation in the ‘Smart City Expo World Congress 2018’ held at Barcelona in Spain helped them to understand the smart city projects in 
developed countries, their system of work and implementation.

Hardikar said, “The Smart City Expo had information stalls of various important cities in the world. Mayors of many cities and social organisations narrated their experiences. There were also presentations on smart projects like the bike, e-bike and electric bus. We will try to develop a sports culture in Pimpri Chinchwad on the style of Barcelona, which gives importance to many sports related activities every year.”

The Smart City Expo World Congress 2018 was held from November 13 to 15.

Pimpri Chinchwad Smart City Corporation delegation at the expo included Mayor Rahul Jadhav, Leader of the House Eknath Pawar, Leader of the Opposition Datta Sane, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s Sachin Chikhale, Smart City Cell’s Joint Chief Executive Officer Nilkanth Poman and Joint City Engineer Rajan Patil, among others who attended the event.
