Bengaluru: Scores of people in Bengaluru attended Vishwa Hindu Parishad's Janaagraha Sabha, a gathering to demand the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. The event was earlier scheduled to be held on November 25, but was postponed following the death of actor-politician Ambareesh.

The sabha was organised at the National College ground in Bengaluru, where members of several right-wing outfits such as Bajrang Dal, RSS and Yuvamorcha were present.

"Building of Ram Temple may not be of priority for the Supreme Court. But for us, it is. Several Ram devotees are present here today. We need not wait for the court verdict. The Centre must bring out an ordinance to build Ram temple," said Milind Parande, general secretary of the VHP.

People from different walks of life, irrespective of affiliation to the right wing groups, also participated in the meeting. "The Supreme Court has failed to protect the beliefs of the people. We saw that with the Sabarimala case also. Let the Centre bring an ordinance now," said Guruprasad, an IT employee.

"There are archaeological evidence that a temple existed there. How difficult is it then to go by it and build a temple? We have waited for these many years," said Ravikumar, another IT employee.

The Janaagraha Sabha was also held in Udupi where members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bhajrangdal took out processions across the city.
