2019 Volkswagen e-Up! Costs Less In The UK Yet Gets More Standard Features

Volkswagen has reduced the starting price of the e-Up! in the United Kingdom, where the car can now be had from £23,115 ($29,579/€25,993).

The recommended retail price (OTR) drops to £19,615 ($25,100/€22,058) with the Government Plug-In Car Grant. According to the automaker, this represents a saving of £2,935 ($3,756/€3,300) over the previous list price, and overall savings of £3,250 ($4,159/€3,655) with the extra gear thrown in.

“For 2019, we’re offering customers even more value with the addition of several extra features to the e-Up! as standard, as well as a major price realignment making the car even more affordable”, said VW’s UK EV Product Manager, Joe Laurence. “This is, of course, on top of the tax and fuel cost savings, which are built into the e-Up!.”

The extra equipment for the 2019 e-Up! are a height-adjustable driver’s seat, new seat trim and reversing camera.

VW’s electric city car has an 18.7 kWh battery pack, which powers a small electric motor. Fully charging it from a standard three-pin plug takes 9 hours, but the time drops to 6 hours when using a 3.6 kWh wall box.

The e-Up! also comes with a rapid charge point that can charge the battery to 80 percent of its capacity in just 30 minutes. Its maximum range, according to the new WLTP standards, is 83 miles (134 km).
