Vadodara: A man and his son were arrested for allegedly molesting a 48-year-old widow, who had rented out a shop to them.
The woman had rented out her ancestral shop to the accused Rajesh Gohil and his son Udesinh in August 2018. The woman’s father-in-law had handed over the shop to her few days before she rented it out.
On November 4, the woman went to the shop to collect the rent from the duo. She told police that she went to the shop as the accused had not paid rent in time last month. When she asked Rajesh for money, he refused. On insisting for immediate payment of rent, both Rajesh and Udesinh allegedly removed their pants in front of the woman.
The woman claimed that made obscene gestures and remarks at her. Police said that the woman started shouting after which people from other shops gathered there.
She went home and told her family members about the incident. Cops said that the woman did not register a complaint immediately as the accused are her distant relatives.
However, she went to Nandesari police station on Saturday to give her plaint as the accused discontinued paying rent to her. After an FIR for molestation was registered, cops arrested the duo and produced them before a local court.
