Police look for couple who dropped ring after Times Square proposal

STILL PHOTOGRAPH OF COUPLE STANDING IN TIMES SQUARE STORY: Police in New York are looking for a couple who got engaged in Times Square on Friday (November 30) but lost the ring right after the man popped the question.

CCTV footage published by New York City Police Department (NYPD) shows a man and a woman leaning over a grate on the sidewalk in the city's famous destination, trying to retrieve a piece of jewellery that fell in.

"WANTED for dropping his fiancée's ring in Times Square NYC!

She said Yes - but he was so excited that he dropped the ring in a grate," NYPD said on Twitter.

It also posted a photo of the recovered ring.

NYPD said one of its officers saw the scene unfold, rescued the ring, cleaned it up and would like to return it to the couple.
