Even as the digital and social media campaigning is ruling the roost in the urban and semi-urban areas of the poll-bound constituencies in the district, traditional art forms continue to dominate the election campaigns by the candidates in the fray for the December 7 Assembly polls.
In their attempt to leave an indelible impact on voters, the candidates in the election race are making extensive use of the traditional art forms be it ‘dappu’ or ‘kolatam’. Ramulu Naik, an independent candidate from Wyra constituency, has engaged a group of folk artistes specialised in ‘Tappeta Gullu’, the famous folk art form popular in the north coastal Andhra Pradesh. His campaign has been hogging the limelight owing to lively disposition of the vibrant folk art forms, including the traditional tribal dances.
The folk songs and traditional dances have been dominating the electioneering of many candidates, reinforcing the everlasting appeal of the glorious folk art traditions.
