Kangaroo Point man charged following shooting incident

A 39-year-old man has been charged following a shooting incident in Brisbane's south-east.

Police will allege a man riding a motorcycle used a handgun to shoot multiple times towards a car, which was driving along Simmins Place at Burbank about 11.30am on Saturday.

The two vehicles collided before the motorcycle rider fled on foot and fled the scene in a car, police said.

A man was later taken into custody at the Wynnum exit of the Gateway Motorway.

The driver of the car was uninjured during the incident.

The motorcycle rider was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for assessment before being released into police custody.

A 39-year-old Kangaroo Point man has been charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and driving a motor vehicle without a licence.

He will appear in Cleveland Magistrates Court on December 3.
