Congress plans week long programmes in Pune ahead of Sonia Gandhi's birthday

PUNE: The city unit of Congress party has organized week long functions between December 2 and 9 to mark birthday of party's former president Sonia Gandhi, said former MLC Mohan Joshi.
A week-long programme will be held under the banner of "Seva, Kartavya and Tyag Saptah" and will be inaugurated in presence of party's senior leader Mallikarjun Kharge on December 2 at a function organized at Balgandharv Rangmandir. Former minister in the state cabinet Balasaheb Thorat will preside over. Senior leaders from state will be present during the functions.
Joshi said that the functions will aim at reaching out maximum people in the city with a message of social harmony. A gathering of youths will be held on December 3 wherein party leaders will hold talks on problems youths are facing. There will be competition for girls besides health card will be issued to needy people from economically weaker sections.
Party's city unit chief Ramesh Bagwe said that competitions will be held for school students besides a seminar will also be organized on the Indian Constitution and its protection. Bagwe said that there is a plan to display posters all over the city on the role Congress party has played in last 60 years in country's development.
