Large scale preparations are underway for counting of votes, which will begin at 8 am at Nehru Stadium on December 11. The vote count will take place in 10 rooms. The counting of votes of Rau assembly seat will be held in two rooms. The process for formation of vote counting parties has also begun.
Collector and district election officer Nishant Warwade said EVMs, VVPATs and postal ballots used in polling have been kept in strong rooms set up at Nehru Stadium where intense security arrangements are in place. “Full transparency will be ensured in vote count,” Warwade said.
As per decision, the counting of votes will be done assembly-wise. The votes of the eight assembly constituencies will be counted in one room each, Rau seat being the only exception whose votes will be counted in two rooms. About 14 tables will be set up for each assembly segment.
There will be a supervisor and one counting assistant on each table. Besides, there will be a micro observer on each table. In this way, there will be three employees for each table. According to district election office, training will be given to staff to be appointed for counting of votes. Separate tables will be set up for counting of postal ballots.
Deputy District Election Officer Dr Rajneesh Shrivastava said random selection of employees will be undertaken to ensure fairness in the process. Due to this method (randomisation), an employee will not be able to know on which table, he will be made to sit for vote count.
