The Telangana State Real Estate Regulatory Authority has made a decision to levy penalty with respect to applications received after November 30, for construction projects which have been approved between January 1 and August 31.
As per the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act 2016, applications received after the due date of November 30 are liable for rejection. However, the authority felt that it may not be appropriate to reject applications outright , and in exercise of the powers vested with it, has decided to give one more opportunity by charging ₹50,000 as penalty, subject to the new deadline up to December 7, an order issued on November 29 said.
While registering online, a pop-up notice or email will be sent to the promoters asking them to pay the penalty online. If the promoter does not agree to pay, the application will be rejected.
The TSRERA was established on August 31.
