Yagna by 5K people for peace on Dec 10

Rajkot: Nearly 5,000 people will perform yagna for world peace as part of the 98th birth anniversary celebrations of spiritual guru of BAPS late Pramukh Swami Maharaj. The mega event that begins on December 5 will be held on the Madhapar-Morbi bypass road on the outskirts of Rajkot.
The organizers have set up a temporary township called the Swaminarayan Nagar on 500-acre land. The head priest of the BAPS Mahant Swami will reach the city on Sunday.

According to organizers, they have sent an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, they are yet to get confirmation from the PMO.

A 27-feet tall, gold-coloured statue of Pramukh Swami Maharaj will be kept in the centre of the make-shift city. Organizers BAPS are expecting 1 lakh visitors each day from all over the country, besides NRIs from across the globe.


Five exquisitely designed temples have been constructed in the Swaminarayan Nagar.


As many as 800 priests will remain present during the 11-day event for which 22,000 volunteers will lend support for all kinds of work. The head of BAPS temple Kalawad road Apurva Muni Swami said, “A world peace yagna will be performed by 5,000 people on December 10 as part of the birth anniversary celebrations. Besides this, every evening there will be cultural programmes. On December 15, we expect 2 lakh devotees to attend the function from 55 countries.”


The organizers claimed that a first-of-its-kind light and sound show will take place on the theme of importance of temples in our society. Nearly 30,000 visitors can watch this show simultaneously.
