Police suspect finance dispute to be the reason

The police claimed to have arrested two persons, Maddala Suresh and his brother M. Sudhakar, in financier D. Gagarin’s murder case.

The suspects, who reportedly had a dispute with Gagarin over ownership of a property in the city, allegedly doused him in petrol and set him on fire on November 23. He died while undergoing treatment in hospital.

Disclosing this to the newsmen here on Friday, South Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) G.V. Ramana Murthy said one Maddala Prasad reeportedly borrowed ₹30 lakh from Gagarin, by mortgaging his house located at Sikhamani Centre, a couple of years ago.

However, Gagarin registered the house in the name of his wife without the knowledge of Prasad. Opposing this, Prasad’s family members including his sons, Maddala Suresh and Sudhakar, approached the court and the case was under trial.

Developing grudge on this, the siblings allegedly plotted to eliminate Gagarin. They conducted a ‘recce’ at his office and executed their plan on November 23, said Suryaraopet CI Satyanarayana.
