China upset England in Hockey World Cup

Bhubaneswar, Last minute goal by Talake Du guided debutant China to draw with experience England 2-2 in the Pool B league match of the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup here at Kalinga Stadium on Friday.

World no 17 China caused the first upset of the world cup by sharing points with World no 7 England.China replaced their goalkeeper in the last two and half minutes to add another forward player to take the advantage. Which worked for them and got a PC in the 59th minute. Talake made no mistake to rest the ball in the net to score the equaliser for China.

First PC came in favour of England in the 14th minutes, however Mark Gleghorne made it 1-1 for the team just before the end of first quarter.

In the 48th minute Ansell Liam snatch the ball from the China defender Yang Ao inside their D area and put it into the box to gave a 2-1 lead.

England and China have meet each other once since 2013, with England winning the game 2-0. This was the first time they meet each other in World Cup.
