Stock BMW X5 M50d Is Proof Diesels Can Give You An Adrenalin Rush

Last summer, BMW unveiled the fourth generation of the X5, which is now bigger and bolder and features new technologies and engines.

With the Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Volvo XC90 and others in its sight, the 2019 X5 is already on sale in different markets, where customers can choose between a variety of engines, depending on where they live.

The range-topping model of the range, the X5 M, will make its world premiere soon. And it’s bound to turn lots of heads, with its exterior and interior upgrades, modified chassis and a reported neck-snapping 600 PS (592 hp / 442 kW) produced by the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8.

Until the X5 M arrives, customers will have to make do with lesser versions of the mid-size SUV. One of them is the X5 M50d, with its M Sport differential, exhaust system, badges, 22-inch light alloy wheels and plenty of gear.

This is powered by an inline-six diesel, which delivers 400 PS (394 hp / 294 kW) and a whopping 760 Nm (561 lb-ft) of torque. The 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint takes just 5.2 seconds, which is impressive for something that that tips the scales at 2,275 kg (5,015 lbs), and top speed is electronically limited at 250 km/h (155 mph).

With a £71,475 (equal to $91,463/€80,375) starting price in the United Kingdom, the new BMW X5 M50d is not exactly affordable. But it is a lot of car for the money, and if you need proof, just watch the following video, which shows some of its key features and focuses mostly on the driving experience.
