HYDERABAD: A co-founder of a startup company Exseed Space was questioned by Hyderabad police on Friday after Kulsumpura police received a complaint, where in the firm is accused of misrepresentation of the tricolour on soon-to-be-launched India's first private commercial satellite, ExseedSat1.
The satellite is expected to be launched on Monday.
However, it was found that an alleged goof-up by a media organisation led to Farhan Ashhar undergo the questioning just two days ahead of the event.
Kulsumpura inspector P Shankar told TOI nearly 15 days ago they had registered a case under the Information Technology Act and Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act after they received a complaint in which a person claimed
that when he went through a story about the launch of the satellite developed by Exseed Space in a media report, he found a satellite photograph with Indian flag on it. The complaint alleged that the number of spokes in the Ashok Chakra in the flag on the satellite, was lesser than the standard 24.
When Farhan appeared before Kulsumpura police on Friday, he clarified that the photo of a satellite which the complaint is referring to doesn't relate to Exseed and the media house which published it, perhaps used a downloaded photo from internet as a representation, along with a story.
"It was a telephonic conversation I had with a representative of that media organisation. I have no knowledge
why that photo was used. Infact, Exseed Space did not use Indian flag on the satellite developed by us. It is on Monday our commercial satellite will be launched from California, USA," Farhan told TOI.
It is SpaceX which will launch India’s first private satellite ExceedSAT 1.
In a reply to a question whether he intends to lodge a counter case after this ordeal, Farhan clarified,"I have better things to do in life, importantly, to launch satellites."
