World Leaders Agree on Reforming WTO, Global Trade Rules

Leaders at the G20 summit in Buenos Aires have reportedly come to an agreement on reforming the World Trade Organization.  Ahead of the summit, EU leaders had  called for changes  to bring the intergovernmental body up to date in the face of increasing global trade tensions.

Now, Reuters reports an agreement on reforms to the WTO will be included  in the final memo  the summit produces.    The Trump administration's  use   of   tariffs  to escalate trade tensions, in particular with China,  has prompted concerns  that the U.S. could undermine future international trade deals.

It's not clear what specific reforms leaders have agreed upon, but in the run-up both the E.U.

And China called for the WTO to restrict protectionism.  U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese General Secretary Xi Jinping are  scheduled to meet  for talks Saturday evening.  Additional reporting by  Newsy affiliate CNN .
