World Leaders Agree on Reforming WTO, Global Trade RulesLeaders at the G20 summit in Buenos Aires have reportedly come to an agreement on reforming the World Trade Organization. Ahead of the summit, EU leaders had called for changes to bring the intergovernmental body up to date in the face of increasing global trade tensions. Now, Reuters reports an agreement on reforms to the WTO will be included in the final memo the summit produces. The Trump administration's use of tariffs to escalate trade tensions, in particular with China, has prompted concerns that the U.S. could undermine future international trade deals. It's not clear what specific reforms leaders have agreed upon, but in the run-up both the E.U. And China called for the WTO to restrict protectionism. U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese General Secretary Xi Jinping are scheduled to meet for talks Saturday evening. Additional reporting by Newsy affiliate CNN . | |||||
