H1N1 claims one more life
tnn | Dec 1, 2018, 23:41 ISTAttingal: A woman from Kilimanoor, who was undergoing treatment for H1N1 fever at Govt Medical College, died on Friday. This is the third death in the past 10 days.
In November alone, at least seven H1N1 deaths were reported from different parts of the district.
The deceased has been identified as Sandhya, 30, a resident of Vilayilkada near Nagaroor.
She complained of fever a week ago. She had undergone initial checkups at the urban health centre, Kesavadasapuram. But, as the fever didn’t subside, doctors advised her to visit medical college hospital for furhter check up.
It is learnt that Sandhya didn’t listen to the doctors and did not bother to get further treatment as advised.
According to her neighbours, financial constraint might have prompted her from seeking treatment at a hospital whcih is farther from her locality. On Friday, her relatives rushed Sandhya to Valiyakunnu taluk hospital, Attingal. Suspecting H1N1, doctors referred her to medical college hospital. She breathed her last late in the evening. Her body was handed over to relatives after post-mortem on Saturday. Cremation was held in the evening.
Nagaroor panchayat president Reghu M and district medical officer visited the house.
Sandhya is a divorcee and leaves behind two children Archana, 7 and Adithya, 5.
