The police have stepped up security for the public representatives and bureaucrats, particularly those staying in the Agency areas, in view of the People’s Liberation Guerilla Army (PLGA) Week being observed by the CPI(Maoist) from December 2 to 8.
Maoists may resort to violence during the week, and those in the hit-list need to be cautious and stay away from attending meetings in the interior and tribal hamlets, the police say.
Additional security will be provided to the officers, MLAs, MPs, Ministers and other political leaders. Officers and public representatives have been asked not to visit remote areas without seeking prior permission of the police.
Similarly, vigil will be stepped up at all the high-security zones, government offices, police stations, and residences of the MLAs, MPs, Ministers and VIPs.
ANS patrolling
Anti-Naxal Squads (ANS) will intensify patrolling in the areas bordering Telangana and Chhattisgarh, and in the AOB area.
“After a review of the threat perception to a few VIPs by the Security Review Committee (SRC) and the Intelligence wing, security cover has been enhanced to a few Ministers and other VIPs in the State,” a top police official told The Hindu.
“Naxalites will organise plenaries and resort to attacks on local leaders. Sarpanches, party presidents and community leaders in villages have to be cautious,” he said.
“To show their presence, the Maoists will attack the villagers too and brand them as police informers. We request the villagers not to attend the plenaries during the PLGA Week. The recent killing of TDP MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao and former legislator Siveri Soma is an example of how the Maoists resort to killing in the name of discussions,” he said.
Intelligence network and security have been beefed up in the plain areas too, the police said.
