Tamim has been out of the national side since fracturing his wrist in the opening game of the 2018 Asia Cup against Sri Lanka in the UAE. He was due to return in the two-match Test series against the Windies but a rib injury in a recent training session delayed his comeback.
The 29-year-old has now set his sights on the ODI series to make a comeback but before that he will have to prove his fitness in a practice game on December 6.
"If everything goes well I should be available from the beginning of the ODIs against West Indies," Tamim told reporters at the academy premises on Saturday. "But before that I am looking forward to play the practice game at BKSP."
Apart from Tamim, ODI captain Mashrafe Mortaza will also be part of the BCB XI unit and will lead the side against the Windies. Imrul Kayes, Soumya Sarkar, Mohammad Mithun and Rubel Hossain are also part of the squad.
"We included Mashrafe and Tamim in the practice match squad as we felt they need some match practice before the series," said chief selector Minhajul Abedin said.
The three-match ODI series will be held from December 9-14 in Dhaka and Sylhet.
