Woman attacked by leopard in Devgadh Baria

Vadodara: Forest officials believe that the leopard that had killed three persons in Dhanpur taluka of Dahod district has now gone to Madhya Pradesh that borders Dhanpur even as another women was attacked by a leopard in Devgadh Baria taluka.
Sources said that the attack on the woman in Devgadh Baria had taken place at the Antela village late on Friday afternoon. The woman had fought back bravely using the sickle that she was carrying and the leopard had to run away. The woman Manjula Patel (26) was going to a farm to get green fodder along with other women when the incident took place. She was rushed to a hospital for treatment later in the day.
In Rebari village, also in Devgadh Baria taluka, a leopard fell into a well sometime late on Friday night. The owner of the farm where the well was located informed the forest department that rushed to the well later in the day. But the leopard could not be rescued immediately as a large crowd had gathered in the vicinity of the well. Sources said that an attempt to rescue it was to be made after sundown. It is believed that the leopard was chasing a prey and could not see the well.
At the other end, officials were much relieved as the leopard that had attacked three persons in Dhanpur is believed to have gone to Madhya Pradesh. Its pugmarks were spotted near the Panam river on the state border from where it is believed to have left Dhanpur. Forest officials have alerted their counterparts in the neighbouring state about the animal.
