LUDHIANA: Police have booked a woman, her mother, brother, and an accomplice for duping a Ludhiana -based factory owner of Rs 9 lakh on the pretext of giving him custody of their five -year -old son. The complainant said even after receiving the money, the woman did not give him custody of their son.

In his complaint, Iqbal Singh (51) of Mangli village in Ludhiana district said Khushbu worked as an office assistant in his factory. She used to tell him about her strained relations with her husband Ramjan Yadav.

Later, they got into a live -in relationship, after which they had a baby boy on June 17, 2013 in Ludhiana. Thereafter, Khushbu went back to Uttar Pradesh for a few months, and he used to send money to her every month.

He said he bought a house in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar for her and their son, and got him enrolled in a school in Ludhiana last year. Khushbu went back to Uttar Pradesh with their son on the pretext of her brother’s marriage.

He said in February this year, he came to know Khushbu had got their son admitted to a school in Uttar Pradesh, showing him as the son of her husband.

He also found Khushbu had prepared a fake birth certificate of their son in Uttar Pradesh. When Iqbal contacted Khushbu, she said she would give the custody of her son to him only after she was paid Rs 9 lakh, to which he agreed.

But while Khushbu took the money from Iqbal, she refused to give him custody of their son. Police said they have registered a case against Khushbu, her mother Kalanti Devi, brother Amninder Kumar, and accomplice Maniraj Yada, residents of Kabir Nagar of Uttar Pradesh.
