CHANDIGARH: Haryana leader of opposition and senior INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala on Saturday launched 'Jana Adhikar Yatra' from Jyotisar, Kurukshetra.
"In the past the Congress had betrayed the state to appease Punjab when in 1985 it discriminated against Haryana by entering into Rajiv-Longowal Accord thereby forcing late former deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal to launch ‘Nayay Yuddh’. History today is again being repeated. Now when all the legal hurdles have been removed in giving Haryana its share of river water through the SYL canal, the BJP government in Delhi and Haryana is finding new excuses to deprive the farmers of the state of their legitimate rights," he said.
The 'Jana Adhikar Yatra' was also addressed by the state president of INLD, Ashok Arora, its senior leader Ram Pal Majra and youth leader Jassi Petwar. Arora criticized those who had betrayed the cause and principles of INLD founder Devi Lal by attempting to cause disaffection among his followers. He said that contrary to Chaudhary Devi Lal’s had sacrificed office for a larger cause. State BSP president Prakash Bharati was emphatic in claiming that the electoral alliance between INLD and BSP was strong and they would sweep the forthcoming Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections.
