The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday filed a chargesheet against former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, senior Congress leader Motilal Vora and Associated Journals Limited (AJL) in connection with re-allotment of institution plot in Panchkula, Haryana.
The CBI had taken over the case of cheating, corruption and criminal conspiracy, registered by the Haryana Vigilance Bureau against Hooda and AJL for alleged irregularities in allotment of a plot of land in Panchkula last year.
It was alleged that Hooda was involved in corruption as he allotted land to AJL. A 3,500 square metre plot in Panchkula, Haryana was leased to AJL which was then the publisher of National Herald. The land was leased in 1982 and the lease expired in 1996.
The Haryana State Vigilance Bureau had registered an FIR in May 2016 against Hooda and four officials working in Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) for cheating, corruption and reallocating land to Associated Journals Limited (AJL) in 2005.
CM Hooda was also the chairman of Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) when the alleged corruption took place.
