The Ramlila Maidan, where farmers have been gathered for the past two days, has seen participants from at least 24 states across the country. From language barriers to cultural differences, everything about the background of those thronging the grounds were different, save their goal and spirit; they were united in their fight against the anti-farmer policies of the government.
The thousands of farmers gathered at Ramlila grounds since Thursday, stayed by far under the respective banners of their state and even marched towards Parliament Street under their union barrier.
Despite the common motives and shared roof, the farmers couldn't do much to interact with each other, because of the obvious language barriers. The kids, however, took no time to mingle, share a laugh and play with each other at the protest site.
According to the Asish Mittal, National Secretary, All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC), farmers from 24 states have joined the protest to press for their demands, including debt relief and remunerative prices for their produce.
While the protest was going on at Parliament Street, hundreds of farmers stayed back at Ramlila ground to keep an eye on their belongings.
Many of them had travelled to the national capital, some even without tickets, just to get their pleas heard, as well support other farmers.
