Chemical spill on road causes panic

NEW DELHI: Police on Saturday received a complaint about chemical being spilled on the Gokulpuri flyover the fumes of which had affected the passersby.

There was panic among the residents of the colony after vehicles owners passing by the flyover stopped and complained of burning sensation in their eyes. A police team reached the spot and found that some chemical had spilled over from a passing container truck, which police suspect could have been carrying industrial waste.


Police said the road was closed down till the time fire department sprayed foam and water to remove the chemical. Some samples of it have been sent to the forensic lab and efforts are being made to identify the truck that was carrying the chemical.


The passersby who do complained of uneasiness were sent for a medical examination and released after first aid. A case has been registered based on the statement of the victims.
