Two residents of Bengaluru have complained to the Election Commission of India alleging that actor Prakash Raj has violated Representation of the People Act, 1951, by having registered as a voter in three constituencies in Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

In a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner, Jagan Kumar J., a resident of Ramamurthynagar, and Sateesh S., a resident of Margondanahalli, have complained that as per the information available on the official website of the Election Commission of India, Mr. Raj has registered his name in the voters’ list of three places — two in Tamil Nadu’s Velachery constituency, and one in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy constituency.

However, denying the allegation, Mr. Raj said he has only one voter ID that pertains to Adyar in Tamil Nadu where he has stayed for more than two decades.

Stating that people are free to question him on this issue, he added, “This complaint can be politically motivated or based on wrong information. Let them [complainants] prove the allegation. I will submit [to authorities] proof that I have only one voter ID,” he said.
