Kudumbashree School Phase 2 from today

12 hours of classes till January 13

The second phase of the Kudumbashree School, an initiative that targets socio-cultural and personality development of the 42 lakh Kudumbashree members, will get under way on Saturday.

Pravesanotsavam will be held in all Kudumbashree community development societies. Twelve hours of classes — six subjects for two hours each a week — will be conducted till January 13.

4.7 lakh members

A total of 4.7 lakh neighbourhood group members will attend the Kudumbashree School in the district.

Classes will be led by 4,000 people such as retired teachers, college students, Kudumbashree trainers and former office-bearers.

The subjects to be taught include disaster management and management of finances.

A review of the Kudumbashree network and its projects, managing their accounts, and livelihood activities for poverty alleviation, too form part of the curriculum.

Minister for Fisheries J. Mercykutty Amma will inaugurate the Kudumbashree School at the district-level in Pallikkal grama panchayat on December 4.

Discount cards for purchasing household equipment at up to 50% discount will be distributed on the occasion to Kudumbashree members who received a loan of ₹1 lakh after the floods. Certificates will be given to those who completed Kudumbashree School.
