Shriya Baru’s exhibition has mainly portraits

It was a dream come true for 16-year-old Shriya Baru when her first painting exhibition was inaugurated on Saturday at the Visakha Museum. Titled ‘My world in black and white’, the exhibition features 32 of Baru’s artwork. The exhibition was inaugurated by Vandana Abhram, principal of Timpany school. Open to the public till Sunday evening, the exhibition has mainly portraits which includes self-portraits and portraits of rural women along with line drawings and abstract art. “ I have been painting from the age of nine and have always wanted to have an exhibition. The paintings displayed here are mostly inspired by the things that I see in my surroundings,” she said. While a few of the paintings are inspired by her first-hand experiences or some draw roots from random images seen on the Internet.

“I chose the theme black and white because I was fascinated by the play of light and shadow. So what better way to denote it than using black and white,” said Baru.
