Star campaigners flock to Khammam

As the campaign for December 7 Assembly polls reaching final phase, the main political parties have deployed a host of their top rung leaders and star campaigners to boost the poll prospects of their respective candidates in the high stakes electoral battle.

Former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar forayed into the electioneering to garner support for the CPI (M)-Bahujan Left Front (BLF) candidates in the electoral race in the erstwhile integrated Khammam district.

He conducted a whirlwind poll campaign in Bhadrachalam and Madhira constituencies on Saturday.

CPI national secretary K Narayana on Saturday participated in the grand alliance campaign in Wyra constituency to drum up support for the party candidate from the tribal constituency.

Former cricketer Azharuddin participated in a road show in Khammam in support of the TDP candidate Nama Nageswara Rao of the grand alliance.

Congress star campaigner Vijayashanthi and noted balladeer Gaddar along with the Congress candidate for Madhira constituency and Telangana Congress campaign committee chairman Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka jointly addressed a series of election meetings in Madhira constituency.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh addressed an election meeting in Bhadrachalam town in support of the BJP candidate from the tribal constituency and former MLA K Satyavathi on Saturday.

Meanwhile, CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechuri is scheduled to address two public meetings at Karepalli in Wyra constituency and Bonakal in Madhira constituency on December 3.

The party Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat will participate in the final phase of the campaign on Dec. r 2.

She will address a public meeting at M Venkatayapalem in Palair where the AIDWA national vice president B Hymavathi is in the fray on behalf of the CPI (M).

The Chief Minister is expected to address two public meetings one in Sattupalli and another in Madhira on December 3.
