Two textile merchants cheated of Rs 74 lakh
tnn | Dec 1, 2018, 04:00 ISTSurat: Two textile merchants dealing in supply of grey and embroidery job-work were cheated of goods worth Rs 74 lakh in two separate incidents.
Hemendra Bagrecha, 25, a trader living near Bhatar Char Rasta, had sold fabric worth Rs 54 lakh to two traders through brokers. The goods were sold during April 22, 2017 to April 17, 2018 to Alpesh Shah and Vishal Brahmbhatt, partners in Mahalaxmi Enterprise located in Andheri, Mumbai. The goods were sold through brokers Ravi Katnani and Jiten Jain, both residents of Surat. However, the buyers did not make the payment for over a year. On checking, Bagrecha found that they shut their shop and switched off their mobiles too. He then approached police and lodged a cheating complaint against them.
In second incident, Varachha resident Kishor Patoliya having a shop at Someshwar Market on Ring Road took saris to do embroidery jobwork from Jivan Savani of Mota Varachha During the period from June 7, 2017 to September 25, 2017, Patoliya did embroidery work costing nearly Rs 25 lakh. However, when Patoliya asked for payment, Jivani allegedly abused and threatened him with life.
An official of police from Salabatpura police said that they would be sending a team to search for accused based in Mumbai.
