Neurosurgeon run over while crossing road in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: A 40-year-old neurosurgeon was killed when she was knocked down by a vehicle while crossing Old Madras Road near MVJ Medical College, Hoskote, on Wednesday.
Dr Poornima Shekhar, a resident of Rajarajeshwari Nagar, west Bengaluru, was on her way to MVJ hospital, where she worked in the brain neurosurgery department. She alighted from a BMTC bus and had almost crossed the road when the speeding mini-goods vehicle hit her. She fell on the road and sustained injuries in her head and legs. She died in hospital later in the day.
The goods tempo driver is absconding.
