LUCKNOW: There’s good news for candidates aiming to do PhD from Lucknow University as the number of seats have increased by over 60% this year. The number of seats has risen remarkably due to LU’s decision to allow its associated colleges to run PhD courses from this academic session.
There were around 400 PhD seats in LU till now but the number has gone up to around 648, following the inclusion of seats in associated colleges this year. The number is likely to go up further as around 25 more seats could be included if approval is given to more colleges by the university after examining their eligibility.
The online PhD admission forms and department wise seat details were uploaded on the university’s website on Thursday. The admission is being held after a gap of 1.5 years. “The number of vacant PhD seats in 44 departments in the university and its affiliated colleges have been made available on the website. The university has received 25 more applications from colleges where teachers have sought permission for being research guides. After examining the applications, more PhD seats could be added,” said LU registrar S K Shukla. “Complete information about eligibility, duration, procedure for admission, centralized entrance test, merit list preparation and helpline numbers have been made available on website for candidates seeking admission in PhD. The maximum number of 61 seats are in Physics while the minimum of 1 seat is in Journalism (Mass Communication) and Commercial Art,” he added.
