The city police has filed a closure report in the Metropolitan Magistrate court on Thursday stating that the case has been fabricated by the victim to trap the accused.
The B summary report filed by the Mahila Crime Branch has reportedly given a clean chit to the accused Rushabh Maru, Gaurav Dalmia and Yamini Nair. Earlier the Gujarat High Court had on Friday directed the Ahmedabad police commissioner to submit a report regarding the investigation carried out so far in the gang rape incident registered with the Satellite Police Station on June 28.
The police administration was given time till November 30 to file the report in the HC.
The police in the report submitted to the lower court said that investigations had revealed that the instagram account in which the victim was threatened and the mobile phone through which the account was logged into revealed that it belonged to the victim herself.
It further said that the mobile call records and locations of both the accused and victims as well as the CCTV footages of the areas mentioned by the victim do not corroborate the sequence of events told by the victim.
It further said that there was a contradiction in the events narrated by the victims and the documentary evidence of the said event gathered by the cops.
It also said that the victim had fabricated the whole story and that was why no evidence to corroborate her tale could be gathered so far. It further said the victim was earlier in a relation with Dalmiya and it was through his friend Maru that she came to know that Nair was Dalmiya's girlfriend.
The report further said that the victim and the main accused Dalmiya were hoping to get married but the latter backtracked after his father refused a marriage outside his caste.
