SI arrested while consuming liquor in Muzaffarpur hotel

MUZAFFARPUR: Sub-inspector (SI) Manoj Kumar Nirala posted at Muzaffarpur Town police station was arrested from a hotel while he was consuming liquor on Friday afternoon.

The hotel from where the SI has been arrested is barely 1.8 metres away from the police station.

Confirming the arrest, Muzaffarpur SSP Manoj Kumar said, “On a tip-off about gathering of some anti-social elements, a raid was conducted at Laxmi hotel under the Town police station area. The SI was found there in a room consuming liquor. He was immediately arrested and taken to the police station for interrogation.”


The SI will face departmental action as well as penal action for violating the prohibition law, said the SSP.


“He was kept in custody for some hours and taken to sadar hospital for a medical examination. Later, he was produced before the court of chief judicial magistrate, which forwarded him to 14 days judicial custody,” said the Town police station SHO.


This is not the first time that a police officer has been arrested or sacked for consuming liquor. Six police personnel have been arrested in Muzaffarpur over the last two years.
